FORD MUSTANG 1966

Amy Jade – ford mustang 1966 -

There’s no doubt: 1966 is one of the most popular Ford Mustang model years in the history of the car. In fact, March 1966 marked the creation of the millionth Mustang. Advertisements became popular reminders of the Mustang’s youthful spirit, such as one featuring two mature adults sitting in a new Mustang with the words, “Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.” It was the car to have it you were seeking the fountain of youth. It was the car to have if you were looking to win over your neighbor or hit the road for fun and adventure. The 1965 and 1966 Mustangs are differentiated by variations in the exterior, despite similar design. These variations include the emblem on the quarter-panels behind the doors. In 1965 the emblem was a single vertical piece of chrome, while in 1966 the emblem was smaller in height and had three horizontal bars extending from the design, resembling an “E”. The front intake grilles and ornaments were also different. The 1965 front grille used a “honeycomb” pattern, while the 1966 version was a “slotted” style.  1966 saw introduction of ‘High Country Special’ limited edition, 333 of them were sold in Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. Born in 1964..the legend continues to grow.

CHRISTOPHER JENNER – SWELL #SALONE DEL MOBILE 2012

From 17th – 22nd of April Sala Napoleonica @Accademia di Brera will be the setting for the allegorical installation ‘The Looking Glass House’, inviting to discover the designer’s new capsule collection.

Pushing boundaries and redefining relations with traditional craftsmanship, the collection is produced using extensive and technological manufacturing processes. Entirely British made, it features deeply buttoned calf leather benches, ottomans, and stools in a spectrum of complimentary colours, whilst sand cast tables with glass legs and hand blown lamps in metallic finishes. Each piece comes combining traditional craftsmanship and cutting edge technology. SWELL was designed with the specific intent of stirring emotions‘ says Christopher Jenner. ‘I want my work to have simple and immediate appeal’. ‘I believe that design should be instinctive and individual – a direct response to the mass produced tyranny of good taste”.

ABOUT MAKING CHOICES: FREE SAMPLES

Director Jay Gammill says that his first length feature, Free Samples, is “a film about those moments  when our idea of what our life should look like is at odds with what it actually is, but eventually life intervenes, and so the movie is about the journey through the wayward moments. It confronts that journey front and center, and through Jillian, the main character, it pokes some fun at it”.

Free Samples stars indie darling Jess Weixler (Jillian) as a Stanford law-school dropout who gets stuck working in an ice cream truck for a day and is distracted by every goofy weirdo in town while she tries to figure out what to do with her life.  This one day spent in a truck on the streets of Los Angeles will wake Jillian from her aimless daze and make her see that life doesn’t stop just because you want it to. Ultimately Gammill’s movie is about making choices in life which might be good or bad, but those moment of decision are the ones that matter.

The cast also includes Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Ritter, Matt Walsh, Halley Feiffer, and nothing less than Hollywood legend Tippi Hedren!

ORTO BIKES

This is a bike reworked project that comes from a place in Europe that not many of us are familiar with. Twenty artists in from Ljubljana, Slovenia have worked their magic to turn old and discarded bicycles into brand new ones that are not just unique, but will surely turn heads as they pedal away on streets. A project taken up by Slovenian phone company Orto, the recycled bicycles already seem to have the attention of the world thanks to their special designs that makes every single one of them sport an unmistakably distinct personality.

The project was carried out and finished within a 10 day period and some of the best artists and design firms in the region took up the challenge of turning old bike scrap into new bicycles that would spread the message of pedaling with pomp and unabated glitz.

The design and recycling effort shows what can be done if creative minds and green intent come together.

Go cycling!

The Best Thing In The World

What’s the best thing in the world?
June-rose, by May-dew impearled;
Sweet south-wind, that means no rain;
Truth, not cruel to a friend;
Pleasure, not in haste to end;
Beauty, not self-decked and curled
Till its pride is over-plain;
Light, that never makes you wink;
Memory, that gives no pain;
Love, when, so, you’re loved again.
What’s the best thing in the world?
—Something out of it, I think.

AMERICAN DREAMERS @ LA STROZZINA

Does the “American dream” still exist? The exhibition (9 March–15 July 2012) comprises a reflection on the work of artists who use fantasy, imagination and dreams to build alternative worlds to the increasingly complex reality of life today. Some condense the essence of reality into miniaturised systems while others expand outwards into space, and yet others feed on fantastic, dreamlike images or reflect on such symbolic themes as the home and the family, or the mass media imagery, which play even today a central role in the construction of the myth of the American way of life. This exhibition is organised by the CCC Strozzina in conjunction with the Hudson River Museum (Yonkers, New York, USA) and curated by Bartholomew F. Bland.

Artists: Laura Ball, Adrien Broom, Nick Cave, Will Cotton, Adam Cvijanovic, Richard Deon, Thomas Doyle, Mandy Greer, Kirsten Hassenfeld, Patrick Jacobs, Christy Rupp

Opening hours:
9 March–15 July 2012
Tuesday–Sunday 10.00–20.00

LIKE THE WATER by Wendell Berry

Like the water
of a deep stream,
love is always too much.
We did not make it.
Though we drink till we burst,
we cannot have it all,
or want it all.
In its abundance
it survives our thirst.

In the evening we come down to the shore
to drink our fill,
and sleep,
while it flows
through the regions of the dark.
It does not hold us,
except we keep returning to its rich waters
thirsty.

We enter,
willing to die,
into the commonwealth of its joy.

THE TAIWAN OYSTER

Director Mark Jarrett spent three years in Taiwan as an English teacher and this life time experience has been crucial to him.  He said that since he experienced a 7.8 magnitude earthquake there in 1999, Taiwan has been tattooed on his psyche. For years the island has served as his band camp, boot camp, and romantic Neverland. Mark started thinking about setting a script in Taiwan for a long time but it wasn’t until the summer of 2007, as he began reading the novel As I Lay Dying by Faulkner, that he actually started incubating an idea about a road trip set there that touched the ideas of land, blood, place and disappointment. Directing The Taiwan Oyster, Mark has seen his dreams come true.

Filmed with a low budget, and co-written by Mark, his brother Mitchell  and longtime friend Jordan Heimer, the movie tells the story of Darin and Simon, two American  kindergarten teachers  who steal the corpse of a fallen countryman and embark on a quixotic road trip through the Taiwanese countryside in search of a suitable burial place for a person they barely knew.  Masquerading as a bender road-movie, the darkly comic film explores deep existentialist questions as the protagonists journey deeper and deeper into the Taiwanese countryside. Darin and Simon’s quest for the perfect burial spot becomes a strange trip down Taiwan’s picturesque East Coast Highway as they encounter the unique cultures of Taiwan, welcoming families, violent gangsters, and Nikita, another lost soul who joins their odyssey. Along the way, they explore the Southeast Asian ex-patriot experience, their own personal demons, and the universal questions that arise when one is confronted with an untimely death. Referring to the director’s words, The Taiwan Oyster reflects a punk rock attitude of filmmaking. It’s raw, soulful, passionate and sincere. And this is the way we like it.
