You were born in Chile in 1977 and moved to New York in 2006. Beside obvious reasons, do you really think it’s impossible for a designer to work on the periphery of the system?

It is naturally possible to work from the periphery of the system and has also many advantages; a beneficial creative isolation, less restrictions, lower costs, better quality of life, etc. Nevertheless it helps to be located next to the world art/design capitals where you can be closer to the people who are making the decision to fabricate or not your products. In my case I believe life is very short and I don’t have time to wait for things to happen; so I prefer to be where the action is.

There are 3 main reasons: 1st) I do art, design, design art, public installations, etc… All depending on the commissions I am being asked to do and the projects I feel inspired to develop. Because of this I need to work with different people with different expertise depending on the different projects. Details »
