If I think about my personal style, two words come up to my mind: comfy and vintage. I admit I don’t have an easy to dress kind of body and I always choose basics, but that doesn’t mean I love minimalism. The “Less is more” mantra is not for me, it doesn’t go with my job and let me say there is another way to express your inner side: it is accessories darlings, something I never stop to buy, something I never have enough. This Best you can buy (now) is about all that. Those delicious pieces you can use to add some chilly pepper to your basics.
On the top of my list there is a big foulard like the Pierre Louis Mascia’s ones. I don’t exclude to buy one of their plaids –which I adore- one day and throw it around my neck. I’m obsessed with scarves as you can understand, but shoes too are another addiction. I’m a big fan of sneakers and perpetually in love with Puma capsule collections made with big designers like the one by Alexander McQueen . This year, inside the Puma Urban Mobility collection by Hussein Chalayan, there is a shoe that takes its inspiration from s/s 2009 Chalayan “Inertia” collection. The iconic Puma Clyde had been designed by adding some dorms made in TPU and the aesthetic is really one of a kind. It looks like those shoes are flying away or swimming in the sea. I love Puma Clyde but my love also goes to Dr. Martens now that I know the pink model is available in my size. I’m a happier man, I finally can go pink.
Jewels are another passion and in my autumn wish list a special place had been taken by “Salvador”. It’s a funny necklace made with the emblematic symbol of Salvador Dali, his moustaches. Made in Silver and ready to capture some attention, it was designed by Danielle and Jodie Snyder for their collection called Dannijo (www.danijo.com). If you like things a little bit Gothic and surreal, à la Tim Burton, you can’t miss jewels by Vernissage Project. As you can see in pictures above, I picked up a gold and enamel bracelet made of, oh yes, bookworms ! Marvellous isn’t it?
Now let’s talk about bags. Stabole is a brand I discovered through Facebook and it is a collection by designer Lorenzo Pezzi. It’s full of nice pieces and between all the proposals I fell in love with the Boario Briefcase. The mustard colour is my favourite one (http://www.stabole.com). Another brand that deserve a note is Al_Andrea Incontri. I have been lucky to meet several times this rising star of the Italian fashion panorama and touching the quality of his creations. Practical and extremely elegant, I would recommend his bags to everyone. Also, the briefcase by The Cambridge Satchel Company is a “don’t miss item”. It has been around for a while and I still like it a lot. You can now choose between neon colours and customize it with your initials. My favourite? The Purple one (www.cambridgesatchel.co.uk). If you need some more space you may like Nina co. maxi shopping bag. Nina co. is an Italian brand that had a big success this summer. Why don’t you use those summer bags to spice up your autumn? Made of operated fabric, nappa leather handlers with ecru’ canvas shell, those bags will bring you far in comfort. I like the Green Apple and Electric Blue (www.ninaco.it).
E per finire, I would like to suggest Paula Cademartori bags. Finalist at ‘Who Is On Next?’, she creates very sophisticated carryalls for those girls who are looking for a very special item to wear for a very special occasion. Paula’s bags bring some good time inside and a deluxe touch.
Autumn for me is all about the right complement, the attitude and the item you can add and…don’t tell me you do not agree with me!
